Gilnow Investigating Principles

Investigating teaching and learning is good at Gilnow when…

The children are excited about Investigating !

The children are given the opportunity to explore questions for themselves and to follow a line of enquiry.

Lessons are practical and hands on.

The children work collaboratively.

The children are motivated and engaged in their learning.

All children make good progress.

The children use Investigating vocabulary with confidence.

The children use a range of equipment and are able to explore and try out their ideas.

The children can link their learning to real-life contexts.

At Gilnow our children will be taught how to work Investigating in both key stage 1 and 2. They will be encouraged to asked questions about exciting topics such as electricity, light, forces and living things. Investigating skills such as observation, prediction, fair testing, recording and interpreting results will be taught throughout school. Children will be encouraged to plan and lead their own investigations.
